Mr Lay You Hong
Mr Hong, from Kampong Cham province, has always loved to study. After his education was interrupted for a decade during the civil war, Mr Hong’s determination saw him recommence his studies after the fall of the Khmer Rouge. Today, he holds a Master’s Degree in Management and Economics.
Prior to working for BFC, Mr Hong had various jobs including at a tourist company and in a garment factory. He joined BFC in 2001 as an Enterprise Assessor, making him one of BFC’s first employees. Mr Hong knows the challenges involved in being an Enterprise Assessor: always striving to prepare his reports accurately and objectively, without favouring any party, and ignoring the occasional threats and criticisms.
Mr Hong is very happy at BFC as his work suits his passion: helping society to escape from poverty. “We can improve working conditions in garment factories which is good for workers and employers, and especially for promoting a positive environment for investment in Cambodia.”
